I have now been able to find the history of this house with thanks to D. Vodden.

This is the same house as "Shelter on Boundary Trail" [link] but taken after the last blizzard and on a beautiful sunny day.

Mr. David Lang came from Quebec in 1879 to the McKenzie District. In 1896 he built this stone house, two full stories, 24x26, with some of the most beautiful wood work and the finest staircase to be found in any farm home in the community. He looked out to the little stream to the north of his farm yard and named his holdings "Burnbrae" - that stream is still known as Lang's Ravine. After Mr. Lang returned to Quebec sometime after 1913 the property was then sold to Fred Moore. My father talked of wonderful parties at the house when he was a child in the 1930's. I believe that the home was occupied until the 1950's or 60's. The plaque on the house says "Erected in A.D. 18_6. As the third number is missing I can only venture to guess in either 1886 or 1896. I lean more to 1896 as that is around when some of the other stone homes were built in the area. (Note: the spelling of the original owners name varies in every document I have looked up so I am not sure if the correct spelling is "Lang" or "Laing".)
