Silent Narrative 9056 by WayneBenedet Silent Narrative 9056 by WayneBenedet
Ste Elizabeth.

There is not much left of this community.  No one lives here anymore, and Google Maps does not even record the town.   There are a number of houses left, but the church has survived and been restored by the surrounding community.  A yearly picnic is held on the church yard.

This looks a lot like a little place that I've passed while on my way to the city. It took me a minute or two to realize this isn't the same place, but the exterior is so dashing~! Not to mention that your shot of it adds even more character to the place.

I have not heard anyone say "the city" in a long time.

This house is located on Ste Annes, east of Morris and about a mile south of highway 23

I just gasped because I thought you were on Canada's west coast for a second, then I had to google Morris. This church is the praire version of the house that I see all the time!
If you want a bit of a "throwback" vaca, I'd say that the North of Seven community in Ontario is the best bet for you. My town was established about 150-160 years ago, and we haven't seen change for probably 50 years, now. (It's not far off from the truth. We got a second Tim Hortons, and a Shopper's Drugmart... People gawked.)

That  is very interesting. The picture is of a house.  I have not posted an outside picture of the church yet.

I grew up in NW Ont, and we visit every year.  Have not been to the southern section in a very long time... no reason to go.  But perhaps  you have given me that reason.  We have friends down there, and we correspond, but other things (older parents) keep us closer to home.

I googles North of 7 communities, and it gave me a number of links.  I will look them over in the next few days.

Thanks again for your interest

Oh. So, this is one of the houses that would have been in that town?

They would have probably listed about eight or so communities. Not many people seem to know about our little areas, but I can tell you that it's fun travelling around North of 7. There's a lot of different little things that can be found. A camp that makes and sells Maple Syrup products, festivals, antique shops, starving artists, mini-golf... (I get a little passionate when I talk about the area. It's probably because despite the poverty in the area, it can be really peaceful, and I did grow up North of Seven.)
We also don't see politicians very often... Mosquitoes keep them away.

Thank you for the replies. :D

lol... I like the mosquito line.  It works in Manitoba too.

We have traveled through this area, but as you know, often when you travel you don't have time to stop and explore.  It does indeed seem like something to do though.

We have spent time exploring south of N o 7, but even that was many years ago... BK (before kids) :D

They are grown up now so maybe it is time to start exploring again.
