There are still many homesteads west of where I live, but gradually they are being taken down, and the land used for production or destroyed by vandals. In time, nothing of the past will remain to remind us of the struggles and triumphs of our ancestors.

I sometimes wonder if there is a dedicated effort to wipe away the history. Lovely and at the same time, sad photograph.

I think it depends on where you are. Out here, in the Mennonite areas.... nothing of history is left. The attitude they as a group have is.... wipe away the old and build new. That is to the east of me. To the west, are the other groups, they tend to have different attitudes about the old, and for the most part seem to be comfortable allowing age and time to take its toll. Now if we could just stop the vandals, i think beauty of this kind would last a long time.

Well, I love the old and mourn it's passing, always did even as a youngster. I never did like the shiny new world that doesn't quiet work right but never mind.
