... nothing about the moon, were you to take its features one by one, should be beautiful... except that it just is...

it is like a scared face, but I agree, there is a beauty about it that transcends the parts.

One of the best pictures of the moon I have seen without a telescope. Well done!

Thanks Peter, I was very happy with it. In fact, it is the first time this lens combination has ever performed for me. I finally learned how to make it work.

rain here tonight too, so I think I have had my chance.

Take a copy for your desktop, it is a great background for processing.

wow that is nice, Not sure I would like it for processing though because of that beautiful orange. But the dark blues would work well.

wow... you really do love colour don't you??? My favourite is the last one. Cobalt blue is my favourite colour. Has been for as long as I can remember.

And thanks for the journal inclusion. It really was a unique way to to a feature. Good reminder for myself on the picture you used too. I took it one day when I was out with my nephew. We don't get out very much, but when we do, we always find great places together. He is probably responsible for more work in my gallery than anyone else because he always sends me coordinates of places to see.

lol... never thought of you as a stalker.... :D (more of an avid follower) but hey.... we don't have to tell everyone all of our secrets.... at least that is what my mother-in-law tells me. (A great lady, I bet you would enjoy her sense of humour and great integrity).

Wow, really nice shot. Would love to get some pointers towards your post-production. I took a shot in the same night you did, and while the raw detail turned out really good the overall image still looks a bit flat: [link]
I would great appreciate any pointers you are willing to share with me!

Love the look of the moon you managed here!

try boosting the contrast... uses curves not the contrast sliders. Remember, the black is black already so you can't loose any more detail there but watch the highlights closely, detail can easily be lost there. Also try using a high pass filter and the shadows and highlights filter. (I said all of this backwards :( ) Shadows and highlights first, then Curves, then high pass, but place the high pass under the curves and above the shadows and highlights. Don't use smart filters for this adjustment.

FYI... there are a number of articles on processing on my front page below my ID section.
