Edge of Existance by WayneBenedet Edge of Existance by WayneBenedet
Prints available at the Untapped Source [link] for as little at $22.00

some strong back lighting and high dynamic range made exposing this scene a welcome challenge.

I was especially taken with the curved windows.

Great photo, to be honest I like the whole set of abandoned buildings in your gallery but this one is my favourite. Colours here are just amazing!

Thank you. I just finished a show of 38 images today in a city east of where I live. On the way I found a few more old buildings and stopped to take pictures. The collection I picked up today is called "Voice of the Pioneer". It is scheduled to tour in the province where I live until 2013.

I have not been able to confirm that. The Ontario Archives has virtually every eatons catalogue, but they are not available on line and even if they were, it would be like hunting for a needle in a hay stack. But I will keep looking from time to time.

I have the 1918 catalogue (you probably sent it to me) this is the 1920 version. I have looked through both, and none of the designs seem to match. But a number of the houses look so familiar to houses here in Morden, and also in Winnipeg. I would not doubt that there are a number of aladdin homes in both places.

If you happen to come across an eatons catalogue that would be great. I have not been able to find one as of yet.

I found Eaton's catalogues but just the general merchandise ones not the home ones. They are interesting to flip through [link]

thanks, I tried three different browsers, none of the work. Two of them say there is a missing plug in, but neither tells me what the plug in is so I can't do anything with this. But thanks for trying.

I've seen similar but can't recall seeing the curved windows. Someone had a flair for design, detail and the finer things when they drew up the plans for this home. Of course plans might not have been drawn---many times it was just the owner doing the dreaming up and building on these old houses.

Lovely, especially the bright sky against the browns of the house and the grass.

the challenge was balancing that sky, without blowing it out, and maintaining detail in the shadows of the house. The dynamic range was fairly extreme, which made the challenge all the more enjoyable.

wow.... I would love that heat. We won't get there until July and August, and it won't last for long, but we will have perhaps a week of temperatures in that range. Mostly though is will be in the 80 range for much of july and august
