Journal History

Photography Instructor

Red River College, Winkler, Manitoba Campus - BA, BTh, MSA

The Gallery at Deviant Art is the broadest collection of my work. It also provides information on shows, exhibits, workshops, and courses that I am offering in Southern Manitoba. If you are interested, please use the contact information on the poster or brochure.

The gallery is divided into folders. When you enter the gallery, the folders are displayed on the left side of the screen. The Scraps folder, at the top contains information about displays of my work, as well as published news articles. Below that, the "Original Prints" Folder contains copies of one of a kind signed prints that have been sold, no other copies will be made available. The "Awards and Publications" folder contains images that have received public recognition or been used in the media.

The two folders below contain collections that have toured in Manitoba.

"An Olde Ride - Classics in the Rough"… is a solo collection that toured in Manitoba from 2008 to 2011. The show consisted of 33 pieces taken from the total collection. Information on the show and where it was displayed will be found on the left of the screen when you enter the folder/gallery. “An Olde Ride” was put into storage for a number of months but came down in May 2012 to show at the Gerhard Ens Gallery, at the Mennonite Historical Village, Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. One final show was held Boissevain Manitoba, in March and April 2013. Following that event, the remaining original, signed, tour pieces have been sold or donated to charitable organizations. Pictures from this show have been sent world wide. Additional copies will not be made.

“Voice of the Pioneer,”… was a new solo collection that began to tour Manitoba in the fall of 2011. The show dates and places are listed on the left of the screen after you enter the folder/gallery. The tour ended in August 2013. Pieces from this collection will be sold or donated to charitable organizations. As with the previous collection, pieces have been sent far and wide.

The Rural and Northern Juried Art Show selected pieces of my work in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to tour the province. This is a five month tour which includes Winnipeg, Carman, Holland, Portage and Morden.

My work has been recognized by the World Wide Gala Awards (WWGA) in Landscape and Rural Photography category.
In 2011 for "Beside Peaceful Waters" Beside Peaceful Waters - Honourable Mention by WayneBenedet

and in 2012 for "Who Has Seen The Wind" Who Has Seen The Wind by WayneBenedet

In September 2011, More of Our Canada Magazine published a Photographic Story on "An Olde Ride" which they called "Classics in the Rough". This magazine has a national and international circulation.

In December 2014, Our Canada Magazine had its 10 year Anniversary. To Celebrate that event, they selected one article from each of the previous 10 years. Classics in the Rough was selected to represent the 2011 year. This magazine has a National and International circulation.

I teach photography courses at Red River College, Winkler Campus and lead workshops in a number of rural communities including Morden, Holland, Killarney, Virden, Manitou and Russell. These workshops, courses and excursions are published here on the front page. If you are interested, please use the contact information provided.

The Manitoba Burrowing Owl Recovery Program

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 18, 2015, 3:05 PM
I received an e-mail today from the Burrowing Owl Recovery Program.  This used to be a common bird in Manitoba, but is very rare at this time.  The grant if successful, will help its recovery.  If you are prepared to help, please read the e-mail below and follow the link.

Hi all!
The Manitoba Burrowing Owl Recovery Program has been nominated for Cargill's "Together We Thrive" campaign. We need your votes to have a chance of receiving a $25,000 grant from Cargill.
Please follow the link below to our page on Cargill's site - enter your email and vote for us!  If you have multiple emails, please use each one to vote, every vote counts!
You will receive a confirmation email, which verifies your vote and explains that you may vote daily. Be sure to check your junk box on your email if you don't receive a message right away. The campaign ends on June 30th.
ALSO... please share this link with your friends, family, neighbours, co-workers, etc to help rally votes for the Burrowing Owls. Our program relies solely on funding from private and public funding sources so $25,000 would go a very long way to helping out our program's costs for the next couple of seasons!
Thanks for giving a hoot! If you have any questions - please let me know!!…
Best regards,

I appreciate the :+fav: on… !  It remains my favourite image of that character.
Thanks, also, for your images and articles.  I've been scanning through both and am enjoying them greatly.  I'm looking forward to sitting down when I get a moment and giving them the attention they deserve.
